What sub-base do we need?
For a new driveway - porous asphalt
For a new driveway, path or paved area with a MOT type 1 sub-base, we recommend the installation of an open binder course of porous asphalt, which will allow water to drain through. Resin bound paving can be laid on the top, to create a fully permeable paved area.

A existing tarmac or concrete drive
We can lay the resin-bound surface treatment straight on to an existing tarmac or concrete base. But this base needs to be single 'slabs' of pavement, with few, if any joints.
The depth of a concrete base for a strong sound footing, for instance, to park a 5 ton motorhome or caravan on, would be 6 inches or 150 cm laid on consolidated MOT (Ministry of Transport)
Not flag stones or block paving stones
We can't lay straight onto paving stones or setts or
any other surface that has discrete units with joints
between each. That's because this extremely tough
resin needs a firm monolithic base or it may crack.
