Resin bound pool surrounds and spa areas
The surface around a pool or spa needs to work harder than almost any other part of your property. It has to be safe when wet, comfortable underfoot and look right for the space. Resin bound surfacing meets all three requirements. The porous surface drains immediately after splashing or rain, the stone texture provides natural grip underfoot, and the finish can be tailored to complement the pool, the garden and the wider property.
Safe, comfortable and beautifully finished
The surface around a pool is used in conditions that most other outdoor surfaces handle poorly. Smooth concrete and ceramic tiles become hazardous when wet. Resin bound paving behaves differently – because the surface is porous, water drains through rather than sitting on top, and the natural texture of the stone aggregate provides grip even on bare feet.
The stone also absorbs warmth from the sun during the day, making it noticeably more comfortable to walk on than ceramic or concrete alternatives. Aesthetically, resin creates a continuous, seamless surface around the pool – no grout lines, no individual tiles to lift or crack, no hard transitions
Designed for the space around your pool
Every pool surround is different. The shape of the pool, the style of the property, the materials used elsewhere in the garden – all of these influence the right choice of stone, colour and finish. We work with homeowners and landscape designers to specify a surface that feels considered and cohesive, not simply functional.
We have installed resin surfaces around private pools and spa areas across Sussex, Surrey and the South East. If you are working with an architect, pool installer or landscape designer, we are happy to coordinate directly with them to fit the wider project programme.
Is resin bound paving safe to use around a swimming pool?
Yes. The porous surface drains immediately after splashing or rain, so water does not pool on the surface. The natural texture of the stone aggregate provides grip even on bare feet – which is why resin behaves very differently to smooth ceramic or concrete surfaces around a pool, both of which become hazardous when wet.
Does resin get uncomfortably hot in direct sunlight?
No – this is one of the reasons resin is well suited to pool surrounds. The stone absorbs warmth gradually during the day, making it comfortable to walk on barefoot rather than uncomfortably hot. Lighter stone colours absorb less heat than darker ones, which is worth considering when choosing your blend.
Can resin be used around a hot tub or outdoor spa as well as a pool?
Yes. The same benefits apply – the surface drains quickly, provides natural grip and is comfortable underfoot. Resin works well for smaller spa surrounds as well as full pool areas, and the material and colour options are the same across both applications.
